Karachi : ReNews Pakistan The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has launched a PKR 2 billion development package for the Sindh Industrial Trading Estate (SITE), marking a significant step toward improving infrastructure and municipal services in one of Pakistan's largest industrial estates. The initiative is aimed at rehabilitating deteriorating roads, upgrading drainage and sewerage networks, improving green belts, and enhancing other essential civic infrastructure to support industrial activity and economic growth. Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab formally inaugurated the project during a foundation stone laying ceremony, describing the rehabilitation of industrial areas as a key priority for the city's long-term economic development. He said that strengthening industrial infrastructure was essential to improve productivity, attract investment, increase exports, and reinforce Karachi's position as Pakistan's commercial and industrial hub. According to the mayor, the development package will focus on restoring major roads and transport corridors within the SITE area while addressing longstanding issues related to drainage, sewerage, and public infrastructure that have affected industrial operations for years. The project also includes the development of green belts and other civic improvements designed to create a more efficient and business-friendly environment. Barrister Murtaza Wahab further revealed that the Sindh government has approved and released approximately PKR 9.5 billion for the rehabilitation of industrial areas across Karachi. Unlike previous funding mechanisms, the allocated funds will be channelled through recognised trade and industrial associations, allowing them to identify and prioritise development projects according to the specific requirements of their respective industrial zones. He said this decentralised approach is intended to minimise administrative delays, improve transparency, and ensure that development funds are utilised on projects that directly address the needs of industrial stakeholders. The participation of business associations is expected to accelerate implementation while ensuring that infrastructure upgrades align with local priorities. The initiative forms part of a broader strategy by the provincial and local governments to modernise Karachi's industrial estates, improve municipal services, and create an enabling environment for businesses. Officials believe that better infrastructure will enhance industrial productivity, facilitate smoother logistics, encourage new investment, and strengthen Karachi's contribution to Pakistan's economy and export sector.

The programme is designed to equip brokers with the knowledge and tools needed to better guide prospective buyers through the home financing process. The collaboration builds on the longstanding relationship between Standard Chartered and EMAAR and reflects both organisations’ commitment to expanding access to quality housing finance in Pakistan. By integrating banking expertise with premium real estate developments, the partnership seeks to simplify the property buying experience and encourage greater home ownership. Standard Chartered, recently recognised by Euromoney as Pakistan’s Best Bank for Mortgages, highlighted that the partnership will enable brokers to connect clients with financing options that support faster and more informed property purchase decisions. Saadya Riaz, Head of Wealth and Retail Banking at Standard Chartered Pakistan, said real estate brokers play a critical role as the first point of contact for many homebuyers. She noted that combining EMAAR’s premium developments with the bank’s mortgage expertise would provide customers with a seamless financing experience while ensuring access to professional guidance throughout the purchasing process. EMAAR Pakistan Chief Executive Officer Aziz Jindani said Pakistan’s housing finance sector remains significantly underdeveloped relative to the size of the country's economy. He added that many young Pakistani families, both at home and abroad, have the financial capacity to purchase homes through mortgages but often face limited financing options. According to Jindani, the partnership with Standard Chartered will enable eligible buyers to secure financing for homes in EMAAR’s newly completed The Views and Panorama high rise residential towers, creating new opportunities for families looking to own premium properties. Karachi | ReNews Pakistan The Government of Sindh has awarded four major infrastructure development projects worth approximately PKR 8.5 billion to the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) as part of its broader strategy to improve Karachi's road network, ease traffic congestion, and enhance connectivity across the metropolitan city. According to official details reported by Geo News, construction on three of the approved projects is expected to commence in August 2026. The initiatives include the construction of new flyovers, the upgrading of key traffic intersections, and the rehabilitation of an important urban road corridor aimed at improving traffic flow and reducing travel times. One of the flagship projects involves the construction of a flyover interchange near the Northern Bypass on the M-9 Motorway, which is expected to significantly improve connectivity between different parts of Karachi while reducing congestion on one of the city's busiest transport routes. Since the proposed structure will cross the motorway, the Sindh Local Government Department has initiated the process of obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the National Highway Authority (NHA) before construction begins. The project carries an estimated cost of PKR 2.3 billion. Another major development includes the construction of a flyover at the intersection of Abul Hasan Isphahani Road and the area opposite Al-Asif Square on the M-9 Motorway. Estimated to cost around PKR 2.1 billion, the project is designed to improve traffic movement from multiple directions and eliminate bottlenecks at one of Karachi's busiest intersections. In addition to the flyover projects, the provincial government has approved the rehabilitation and upgradation of Hawksbay Road, a key route connecting the city with coastal areas and industrial zones. The road improvement project, valued at approximately PKR 4.162 billion, is also scheduled to begin in August and is expected to enhance road safety, improve transport efficiency, and support economic activity in surrounding areas. Officials believe these infrastructure investments will play an important role in modernizing Karachi's transport network, reducing traffic congestion, improving commuting conditions for residents, and strengthening the city's long-term urban mobility. The projects also reflect the Sindh government's continued focus on expanding critical infrastructure to accommodate the growing transportation needs of Pakistan's largest city.
کراچی | ری نیوز پاکستان سندھ حکومت نے کراچی میں سڑکوں کے نظام کو بہتر بنانے، ٹریفک کے دباؤ میں کمی لانے اور شہر کے مختلف علاقوں کے درمیان رابطہ مضبوط کرنے کے لیے تقریباً 8.5 ارب روپے مالیت کے چار بڑے انفراسٹرکچر منصوبے فرنٹیئر ورکس آرگنائزیشن (ایف ڈبلیو او) کے حوالے کر دیے ہیں۔ رپورٹ کے مطابق ان میں سے تین منصوبوں پر تعمیراتی کام اگست 2026 میں شروع ہونے کی توقع ہے۔ منصوبوں میں نئے فلائی اوورز کی تعمیر، اہم چوراہوں کی بہتری اور ایک بڑی شہری شاہراہ کی بحالی شامل ہے، جس کا مقصد ٹریفک کی روانی بہتر بنانا اور سفر کے دورانیے میں کمی لانا ہے۔ اہم منصوبوں میں ایم نائن موٹروے پر ناردرن بائی پاس کے قریب فلائی اوور انٹرچینج کی تعمیر شامل ہے۔ اس منصوبے سے کراچی کے مختلف علاقوں کے درمیان رابطے میں بہتری آنے اور مصروف شاہراہ پر ٹریفک کا دباؤ کم ہونے کی توقع ہے۔ چونکہ مجوزہ فلائی اوور موٹروے کے اوپر تعمیر کیا جائے گا، اس لیے سندھ کے محکمہ بلدیات نے نیشنل ہائی وے اتھارٹی سے این او سی حاصل کرنے کا عمل شروع کر دیا ہے۔ اس منصوبے کا تخمینہ 2.3 ارب روپے بتایا گیا ہے۔ ایک اور بڑے منصوبے کے تحت ابوالحسن اصفہانی روڈ کو ایم نائن موٹروے پر الآصف اسکوائر کے سامنے والے علاقے سے ملانے والے چوراہے پر فلائی اوور تعمیر کیا جائے گا۔ اس منصوبے کی لاگت تقریباً 2.1 ارب روپے ہے۔ حکام کے مطابق اس فلائی اوور کی تعمیر سے مختلف سمتوں سے آنے والی ٹریفک کی روانی بہتر ہوگی اور کراچی کے ایک مصروف ترین چوراہے پر ٹریفک جام میں نمایاں کمی آئے گی۔ صوبائی حکومت نے ہاکس بے روڈ کی بحالی اور اپ گریڈیشن کی بھی منظوری دے دی ہے۔ یہ اہم شاہراہ شہر کو ساحلی علاقوں اور صنعتی زونز سے ملاتی ہے۔ منصوبے کی اندازاً لاگت 4.162 ارب روپے ہے اور اس پر بھی اگست میں کام شروع ہونے کی توقع ہے۔ حکام کا کہنا ہے کہ ہاکس بے روڈ کی بہتری سے سڑکوں کی حفاظت میں اضافہ، ٹرانسپورٹ کی کارکردگی میں بہتری اور قریبی علاقوں میں معاشی سرگرمیوں کو فروغ ملے گا۔ سرکاری حکام کے مطابق یہ منصوبے کراچی کے ٹرانسپورٹ نظام کو جدید بنانے، شہریوں کے سفر کو آسان بنانے، ٹریفک کے مسائل کم کرنے اور شہر کی طویل مدتی شہری نقل و حرکت کو بہتر بنانے میں اہم کردار ادا کریں گے۔
